Driving from southeast France to Paris, we decided to make a small detour into the foothills of the French Alps and visit the town of Annecy.

The next day we rented bikes and rode around Lake Annecy.

The area is breathtakingly beautiful and we would definitely go back for a longer stay.

South of Annecy, also in the foothills of the Alps, we visited the Chamrouse ski resort for a summer hike. We found campers along the road, waiting for the Tour de France which would pass by several days later.
