The Bodrum Peninsula in southwest Turkey is all about the water. We rented a small scooter and explored all the villages around the peninsula.

To be honest, the big story from our stay in Yalikavak was the family of feral cats who lived right outside our condo. Mama Cat was very good at socializing her children and we were easily lured in to become big fans of her four kittens.

At the end of each day of exploration, we'd stop at a market for some chicken or fish for the "kids", then sit out on our porch with a glass of wine and laugh as the kittens wrestled around at our feet and eventually sat right by us for a little play after their snacks.

Sometimes the simplest pleasures are the most memorable. I loved ending a day of exploration with a cold Guiness at the Rahat Bar in Yalikavak.
